Troponin is a complex of three subunits (Troponin-C, Troponin-I, and Troponin-T) that is integral to muscle contraction in skeletal and cardiac muscle but not smooth muscle. Troponin complex can be used to prepare calibrators and controls for cardiac Tn-I assays. Troponin complex is purified using a combination of affinity and ion-exchange chromatography steps.
