Troponin-C is one of three subunits that form the troponin complex of the thin filaments of striated muscle.  Cardiac Tn-C is characterized by a molecular weight of ~18 kDa.  It is expressed in heart and slow-twitch skeletal muscle.  Cardiac Tn-C is purified using a combination of ion-exchange and affinity chromatography steps.
